Welcome to the Department of Organization & Leadership
Welcome to the Spring 2008 issue of our e-newsletter from the Department of Organization and Leadership. It is our goal in this newsletter to keep you abreast of happenings in the college, department, and especially in your program areas. We plan to mail two issues per year (fall and spring) and assess the need for additional issues in the future.
Allow me to introduce you to the department.
The Department of Organization and Leadership (ORL) strives for excellence in scholarship, teaching, and service. For those of you not quite familiar with all of our programs of study, ORL is comprised of six programs, each supported by a world-class faculty. The programs are:

As Departmental Chair, it has been my distinct privilege to work with the students, staff, and faculty of the department. We have had a very busy time during the 2007-2008 academic year. As I look back on our accomplishments from the vantage point of this fall, we have a good deal to be proud of.
On the academic program side, we have launched two new and exciting masters programs. Warner Burke and colleagues in Social-Organizational Psychology have concluded a contract with the West Point Military Academy to provide up to 24 army officers with graduate education leading to a masters degree in Organizational Psychology.
In Education Leadership, Professor Richards and colleagues launched a new summer cohort masters degree program for public school principals. The new program follows on the highly successful summer cohort model developed by Professor Pearl Kane for independent school headmasters. More information about the programs can be found at the following websites:
It's quite natural that those of you receiving this newsletter will be primarily interested in news from your own programs. The links on the right side of this newsletter will take you to your program area news.
