B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication from Arizona State University in 2006; Masters of Education in Special Education from Arizona State University in 2011. Nicholas Oviedo was born, raised and began his career in education in Phoenix, Arizona. He is currently a self-contained special education teacher working with students with emotional and behavioral needs at Amy Houston Academy in Phoenix. Amy Houston Academy is an alternative program within the Roosevelt School District that consists entirely of students with special needs. He has facilitated numerous professional development sessions district-wide and has assisted in writing grade level curriculum maps for the new English/Language Arts standards. He is also the Success For All and cooperative culture chairperson at his school. He is excited to build up his school community and student population by bringing back the experiences and knowledge gained from the 2012 cohort.
