Karen Chambers

Karen Bryan-Chambers is a graduate of New Leaders for New Schools and she received her BA in Elementary Education in 1997. As a principal she focused on top academic performance and high standards of operation. Her expertise is in turning around low performing schools. As a principal, she demonstrated success in instructional programs focused on academic improvement, strategic reform, and student achievement. She has achieved significant gains during her time as Principal at Sylvanie F. Williams Elementary School, Laurel Elementary, and Sarah T. Reed Elementary. Aside from being a principal, Karen also has 14 years of experience teaching K-7 in New Orleans schools. While in the classroom, she mentored first year teachers and led several instructional committees. Karen believes that every student can achieve high academic levels and adults are personally responsible for student learning and achievement. She truly has a passion for the children of New Orleans and has defied all odds to ensure their success. Karen goes into every situation with the best interest of children at heart and has proven to be successful in everything she does. She has served as an asset to the New Orleans education system.
