Talks also resulted in plans for the Dominican Republic's government to use the Columbia Secondary School (CSS) as a template for a Dominican pilot school. Collaboration includes a teacher exchange program and visits by Teachers College officials, including Kuhn, to aid in the development of critical thinking skills within Dominican schools.
Most recently, a pilot demonstration project was undertaken at Escuela Fray Ramon Pane in Santo Domingo D.R. Four teachers from the school spent a semester at Teachers College working with Professor Kuhn and interning at Columbia Secondary School, where they were able to observe and master the procedures used in the argumentation and inquiry middle-school thinking skills curriculum that has been adopted and remains in use at CSS. Upon their return, the leaders led the implementation of a similar curriculum at Escuela Fray Ramon Pane, which they report went successfully and will continue.
