The roundtable included a report of the first-year findings of a three-year project, funded by the Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation and designed to build a comprehensive model for domestic violence and abuse prevention for women with mental retardation. The session featured presentations by project team members from the Center for Opportunities and Outcomes for People with Disabilities at Teachers College, Columbia University and from AHRC New York City followed by a discussion of project challenges and strategies.

Poster presented at the Annual Convention of the American Association on Mental Retardation, Washington, DC.
The poster described a study designed to evaluate the effectiveness of an intervention package featuring a picture book, Its Our Home (Rosman & Hickson, 1997), and an accompanying workbook with consumers with mental retardation. Findings indicating that consumers who received the treatment package reported more choice availability than those in the comparison group were presented and discussed.
