In addition, she has partnered with the Boston Teacher Residency Program as a mentor, site director, and teacher of graduate courses. Karen has been a recipient of the Sontag Prize in Urban Education and United Way’s 2010 Teachers Rock Award, which recognizes teaching excellence and commitment. Karen earned a B.A. in English from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a M.Ed. from Harvard University. She is excited to attend SPA, where she hopes to develop the skills needed to lead an inclusive and responsive urban school where faculty and students are supported, empowered, and involved in creating the vision and direction of the school and all students are given a challenging, exploratory, integrative, and meaningful curriculum.
