CHALLENGING conversations on race, class and national identity are stimulated by a cutting-edge curriculum designed to accompany Spike Lee’s documentary on Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath, When the Levees Broke: a Requiem in Four Acts.
The 100-page curriculum, titled “Teaching the Levees”, developed by a team led by professor Margaret Crocco, aims to engage participants in “democratic dialogues” relating to the subject areas of economics, geography, civics, history and media literacy.
