Resources for Schools and Teachers

TEAM-building, critical-reflection and translating theory into practice are three key components of this school-based partnership with small high-need secondary schools.

The program, developed by TC faculty, includes on-site coaching, visits between schools, assistance in developing distributed leadership, and professional development. Monthly seminars are led by Academy advisors, TC faculty, and other experts in the field.

The program focuses on four strands: leadership, adolescent literacy, differentiated instruction and new teacher development. The Academy, under the direction of Douglas Wood, currently works with 450 teachers in 15 schools, primarily in the Bronx and Harlem, and is funded by philanthropists Lilo and Gerard Leeds.
