Teacher certification candidates who fail the edTPA and choose to take the ATS-W instead of retaking the edTPA pursuant to the "Safety Net" adopted by the Board of Regents at its April meeting may request a test voucher code to take the ATS-W at no cost to the candidate. Changes in edTPA requirements announced by the NYSED Board of Regents on April 29, 2014
Changes in edTPA requirements announced by the NYSED Board of Regents on April 29, 2014:
- A teacher candidate who is seeking initial certification on or after May 1, 2014 and prior to June 30, 2015, will be required to submit the edTPA.
- If a teacher candidate submits the edTPA and receives a failing score, he/she may take the Assessment of Teaching Skills-Written (ATS-W) exam. The teacher candidate must receive a passing score on the ATS-W prior to June 30, 2015 in order to be issued an Initial certificate.
Note: The ATS-W is not required for teacher candidates who achieve a passing score on the edTPA.
