TC offers a wide range of state approved teacher education programs leading to initial or professional teacher certification, and school/district administrator certification in NY State. All programs blend graduate study and professional preparation, ensuring strong connections of theory with practice through extensive field experience and multiple opportunities for experiential learning informed by substantive engagement with education research and literature. Our programs are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), and have met the highest standards set by the profession.
The Urban Education Fellowship at Teachers College created a space for pre-service and first year teachers of color to have collective interactions focusing on influences of race/ethnicityfor teachers of color in urban schools. (5/13/2015)

The ALST Safety Net allows any candidate who takes and fails the ALST to submit forms attesting that the candidate has demonstrated comparable literacy skills consistent with what would be assessed by the ALST through course completion... The Safety Net passing score for the EAS has been set to 500. The original passing score was 520. The passing status has been adjusted in TEACH for those candidates who had a score between 500 and 520... (6/17/2015)
At its May 2015 meeting, the Board of Regents, by emergency regulation, extended the edTPA Safety Net and created safety nets for the Academic Literacy Skills Test (ALST), Educating All Students test (EAS), and certain redeveloped Content Specialty Tests (CSTs). (5/27/2015)
