Most Common Ways to Make a Gift
1. Cash: To make a cash gift, send your personal check to:
Teachers College
525 West 120 th Street
Box 306
New York , NY 10027
A gift of cash is recorded for tax purposes on the date it is
hand-delivered or post-marked. Please note on the memo line of your
check that your gift is for the "Peace Corps Fellows Program."
3. Appreciated stocks or securities: Securities such as stocks, bonds and mutual funds make a wonderful gift and the tax savings to the donor can be significant. Making a gift of long-term (held over 12 months) appreciated securities or mutual funds to Teachers College may help you to avoid capital gains tax. In addition, the gift gives the donor who itemizes deductions an income tax charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the securities (subject to certain limitations) .
Please instruct your broker, trust officer or financial adviser to electronically deliver the securities by DTC to:
Investors Bank & Trust Co.
DTC #2132
Account #368137471
Reference: Teachers College
Advance notice of incoming securities will ensure that all items can be promptly accepted by the bank and properly credited to the donor. Please call (or have your adviser call) David Stiles at Teachers College, (212) 678-3037, with the following information, so your generosity may be acknowledged and a receipt for IRS purposes may be issued:
The official value of your gift will be the average of the high and low quotes on the day the securities are received by Teachers College. Normally, a transfer will take place within two or three business days. An acknowledgement will be prepared and mailed to you within a few days following the delivery of the security(ies).
4. Gifts "in memory of" or "in honor of":
You can
make a gift in memory or in honor of a friend or loved one. Teachers
College will inform the individual or their family about your gift and
how it will benefit the Peace Corps Fellows Program community.
5. Matching Gifts:
If you or your spouse work for
a company that makes corporate matching gifts, your contribution to TC
can be doubled or even tripled. Contact your human resources office to
find out if they take part in a matching gift program.
