ART UNDERGROUND AT MUSEUM OF MODERN ART

Where: The Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Education and Research Building at 4 West Fifty-fourth Street, between Fifth and Sixth avenues
When: every other Friday, 4:00-8:00
What: pizza, artist talks, films, and more
Admission: FREE!

SCHOOL WELLNESS POSTER CONTEST

Students are invited to submit poster designs to educate community members about health and nutrition. Winning designs will be displayed across city schools and winners will receive up to $500 in wellness-themed materials.

DRESS FOR SUCCESS

High school students may participate in this day to help unpack and sort clothing donations to be used to provide women with professional attire to be worn at interviews. The volunteer day is Saturday, March 24th from 10:30 AM - 3:00 PM at Dress for Success at 32 E 31st Street in Manhattan. Registration is required.

GRANTS FOR PROJECTS THAT PROMOTE KINDNESS

The Red Robin Foundation invites schools to submit project ideas to eliminate bullying. Grants will be given to implement the proposed program. Applications can be found here.


National Days of Service

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Theme: Make it a day on..not a day off!

Purpose: To help keep Dr. King's legacy of service to others alive in communities across the country.

Global Youth Service Day

Theme: The Power of Youth Serving Youth

Purpose: To empower young people, highlighting their ongoing contributions to their communities and mobilizing their energy, commitment, and idealism through sustainable service

Dates: April 20-22, 2012

National Volunteer Week

Theme: Inspire by example        

Purpose: to recognize and celebrate the efforts of volunteers at the local, state and national levels

Dates: April 15-21, 2012

Join Hands Day

Theme: Youths and Adult Volunteering Together

Purpose: A day of volunteering that brings youths and adults together to improve their own communities

Dates: May 5, 2012

National Wildlife Week

Theme: Environment and Animal Protection

Purpose: To engage students in the support of the welfare of species living in their environment

Dates: March 19-25, 2012

National Park Week

Theme: Park Beautification

Purpose: To engage students in celebrating national parks

Dates: April 21- 29, 2012
