POLICY 202

1.0   PURPOSE

To establish Teachers College policy and procedure for affirmative action in selection, promotion and employment.

2.0   SCOPE 

This policy applies to all employees.

3.0   RESPONSIBILITY

The oversight of this program is the responsibility of the College President. The interpretation of this policy and administration of programs which support this policy shall be the responsibility of the Human Resources Officer. The interpretation and administration for monitoring the equal employment opportunity recruitment of professorial staff and instructional staff shall be the responsibility of the Provost. 

The implementation of the efforts outlined in the Affirmative Action Plan shall be the responsibility of the Human Resources officer.  The implementation of the Affirmative Action Plan for professorial staff and instructional staff positions shall be the responsibility of the Provost.  The Affirmative Action Plan is available in the Office of Human Resources for review.

4.0   POLICY

4.1  The College maintains an Affirmative Action Plan (“Plan”) and procedures to support that Plan.  The objective of the Plan is to assist in the College’s efforts to take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed and that employees are treated equally without regard to their race, color, religion, sex or national origin.

4.2  To ensure compliance with the Plan, no administrator, supervisor or other College employee may make any commitment regarding employment, promotion, or salary to a present or prospective member of the professorial, instructional, or professional staff unless there is satisfactory documented evidence that the prescribed appointment procedures have been followed.
