Open Rank Professor of English Education

Teachers College, Columbia University is seeking an accomplished teacher-scholar and professional leader in English education for a professorial tenured or tenure-track appointment in the Department of Arts & Humanities for the Program in English Education/The Teaching of English. Professorial rank is open and will be determined by the qualifications of the prospective appointee.

Our search will be focused on recruiting either a potentially or already recognized intellectual and professional leader in the field of English education with a promising or an established record of influential research and publication, strong and active interest in the preparation of secondary and college English teachers and teacher-educators, and a history of success (or exceptionally strong potential for success) in submitting top-ranked proposals to foundations and government funding agencies.

Our new colleague will be expected to maintain a robust and professionally influential program of research relevant to teaching and learning in the disciplines and practices that define English studies and the arts of language;  to guide doctoral students in English education in their dissertations and in their development as research specialists, scholars, and teachers; and to contribute generously and actively to sustaining and enhancing the quality of our four distinct masters programs and three doctoral programs in English education.
