Letter from the Editors

First, we'd like to say how excited we are to take The Grapevine reins. Maggie Moon did an outstanding job as
Editor-In-Chief and will be missed. We thank her for all of her guidance and support.

We'd like to present you with an issue chock-full of the latest information on nutrition, health and exercise. In addition to the newsletter redesign, you'll find we've added a couple of new features. Being Applied Physiology & Nutrition (APN) majors and wanting to emphasize the importance of physical activity as it relates to nutrition, we've introduced the very first exercise-related section called,  “Work it out” (page 15) to provide you with great work-outs and corresponding nutrition recommendations.

Continuing in the spirit of overall healthy living, you'll also find articles under the theme of sustainable living, such as the Op-Ed (another new feature!) on Plastic-bag use (page 14) and a book review on Kingsolver's latest sustainable eating memoir (page 9). Though we all wish we could have an organic garden like Joan Gussow, not everyone can grow their own tomatoes. Therefore, we're extending this as an invitation to send us gardening tips and seasonal ideas for the next issue.

Lastly, we would like to welcome all of the new students into TC's Nutrition Program. We are excited to meet everyone personally, but in the meantime, be sure to get the inside scoop on our new class (pages 11-12).

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this issue. If you have an idea for a story and/or are interested in writing, please email us or catch us in the halls!

Bon appétit!
