EDITORIAL POLICY

We invite submissions from graduate students. We publish new material twice a year. Articles are considered for publication based on their relevance and contribution to current conversations regarding the philosophies and practices of the arts and humanities as well as Spaces’ stated mission. Creativity, originality, and scholarly competence of the submissions is considered during the review process. The editorial board reviews each submission and determines whether the work should be published as is, revised, or considered unacceptable.

Style Guidelines

Written Text

In terms of style and formatting, we ask that all journal articles and
reviews adhere to APA style guidelines.  If you have any questions
regarding APA style guidelines please refer to:
http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/.  Please pay
attention to the documentation of your sources, as incomplete or
improper citations can slow the editing process considerably.

We request that the written text be formatted in double spaced 12 point
Verdana font.  All quotations, names, titles, and dates should be
double checked for accuracy.  All titles should be italicized.  All
section titles should be in bold 12 point font.  Substantial
quotations should be indented at .5.

Written Submissions should not exceed 7500 words or 8500 words with
notes.  Spaces also invites shorter pieces in the range of 2500 words.

Visual Images - Images should be submitted for web display at the desired screen display size in pixels: measured as 72 dpi at full size in inches, or actual pixel display size. Sizing, color correction, and any picture editing should be done prior to submission. Sending images that are too large can slow the editorial process and may result in images being returned to the author for correction.

Video - Video submissions must be sent at the largest possible size in .mov compressed format via mail to:

Matt Carlin, Spaces Ejournal
Department of Arts and Humanities
334-L HMann
525 W. 120th Street
Box # 104
New York, NY 10027

Spaces will further compress files for appropriate web streaming display on their quicktime server. If submitting Flash movies, please send all flv and swf files. Please contact Spaces for further questions about video submissions.

Submissions - All submissions should be sent as an e-mail attachment with the word submission in the subject line.  Submission of a paper to Spaces
will be taken to imply that it presents original, unpublished work not
under consideration for publication elsewhere.  All submissions will
undergo a peer review process.  Spaces publishes two issues per year.
