No Child Left Behind: Issues of Implementation

This event was co-sponsored by The Education Forum and the Youth Justice Association

“No Child Left Behind” was enacted in 2002.  Two years later it remains a source of great controversy.  This panel will discuss the concrete impact the law is having on the way schools are run, teachers are hired, and students are taught. It will certainly be a major issue in the upcoming Presidential Election.

An Interdisciplinary Forum on the Relationship between Public Education and Juvenile Justice

This event was co-sponsored by the Teachers College President's Community and Diversity Grant Fund: CCD

Court-involved youth often face a history of educational neglect, and a lack of educational success. This forum facilitated an interdisciplinary dialogue highlighting the ability of integrated efforts between the education, legal, policy and business communities to help court-involved youth make successful transitions from the juvenile justice system to society.
