Elham Kazemi
Associate Professor, University of WashingtonDr. Kazemi is an associate professor of mathematics education at the University of Washington and leads the LTP project team (Learning in, from, and for Teaching Practice) at the UW. Prior to her graduate work at UCLA, she spent several years teaching elementary students. She has studied and written about the design of professional learning environments for new and experienced teachers as well as teacher leaders. She has collaborated with teachers extensively in the last decade to better understand how to orchestrate discussions in classrooms that advance students' ideas and promote positive dispositions towards doing mathematics. This work has been instrumental in her attempts to design better learning environments for teachers and teacher leaders.
