Our winter Provost Series will take place on January 30, 2014 (6:00-8:00pm) on campus in 197 Grace Dodge Hall.  Our featured speaker will be Dr. Lucy Calkins, Robinson Professor in Children's Literature and Director of the Literacy Specialist Program in Teachers College's Department of Curriculum and Teaching and Founding Director of the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project. The title of her talk is: "Pathways to the Common Core State Standards: The Challenge to Understand and Implement the CCSS."  Lucy's presentation will address and help group some of the various challenges posed by the new state standards and the debates swirling around them, in an effort to better understand this controversial educational initiative.

The Provost Series provides a great opportunity for TC Fund donors and friends to engage in dialogue about the many pertinent trends in education, health and psychology.  The event also serves as a means of informing them about the work that our faculty and students are involved in on a daily basis.
