Waiter
El Gaucho Restaurant
Vina del Mar
This was drawn about 23.15, December 5, at the dinner for charla, miembros, and
others in the El Gaucho Restaurant, near the Gala. This waiter was not intransit; we were. And like a flight steward our Gaucho seemed to enjoy serving those in transit, to like being in the spotlight, smiling as he took and fulfilled orders. All was not smiles however. He was forced reluctantly and repeatedly to announce the unavailability of pollo and conger.
That's why, when he indicated they had steak, Ton de Jong (left inset) and I both ordered it. Unfortunately, when our steaks arrived, we immediately realized we had made a serious mistake. A single El Gaucho steak was equivalent to about three normal meals for either of us. I ate what I could, then too forget about my mistake, I turned to Quena who was next to me and drew her picture (right inset).
