Persons drawn twice or more
Serendipity at work

The people above were all drawn twice or, in one case, Stanislaw Zelenda, thrice. Serendipity was at work in each such case. Beginning at the left, the first two drawings are of Chris Abbott. The first was drawn as he moderated the Thursday opening session, the second, the next day, at Friday's opening session. The second came about purely by chance, as the text on that page explains. The next three drawings are all of Stanislaw Zelenda, the left most at TET committee lunch on Thursday, the next two done more or less to fill time, as we travelled in the bus toward the Karlstejn Castle for the final dinner. The next two drawings were made of Miroslava Cernochova during a presentation she was making, one in which she turned away so often, I decided to do both profile and turned-away view. The next two are of Tomas Secky, playing his French Horn at St. Nicholas Church. The first I did as carefully as the lighting and distance would allow, as the concert began. The second, sketched quickly in the final number, was just to see if I had his posture right in the first one. The last three drawings are the most serendipitous, combining two of me and two of the taxi driver who took me to the airport in Prague, at TET end. I did myself in my hotel Saturday, just to record my presence in Prague. The back of the driver's head was done because his hairdo attracted my attention as we drove along. The last was done because in drawing his head, I'd noticed parts of both of us appeared in the rear view mirror and had to draw that, too. Serendipity continuously enters into both the encounters and events that help to define life, and into my sketching of those events.
