Robert P. Taylor's Flowery: a webbery of flower images

Irises in the Columbia University neighborhood
9 May through 20 June, 1997

Above are detail miniatures of the 13 digitized images of irises in Flowery. A beautiful blossom, the Irises reflected just in this small collection elicited a range of media treatments including water colors, colored pencils, black pencil, India ink, colored markers, and scissor cutouts - a range larger than that elicited by any other flower in the site. Though extant notes are incomplete, most if not all these flowers were growing on or near the Columbia University campus in New York City, and a number were planted and cared for by the grounds staff of the University, in the beds which immediately surround the original, central building on that campus, Lowe Library. Each miniature above is paired with another on a detail page which displays a 6 inch high image of the flower accompanied by some statement of details about the particular blossom, the original image of it, or both.
