Robert P. Taylor's Flowery: a webbery of flower images
Images primarily in graphite, India ink, marker, or cutout
Here are thumbnails of the site's 12 images done primarily or entirely in media other than watercolor or colored pencils. The first three, two unidentified flowering shrubs and an Iris, were realized with black pencil, the shrubs on thin white note paper, the Iris on yellow construction paper. The fourth and fifth , a tulip and dafodil, were done in India ink wash. The four tulips and one Iris that follow were all done with washable colored felt tip markers, some touched with pencils, some not. Finally, the last two, both iris cutouts, were done with scissors and ordinary purple and yellow construction paper respectively. Though the two shrub drawings were done in pencil because there was nothing else at hand to draw with, each of the others was done as a sort of experiment to see what aspect of the blossom that particular medium would most naturally capture. Consequently, it's interesting to compare these 12 with the many blossom images in the Flowery population, and see what difference, if any, medium makes in the image's appearance (see All flowers below).
