Robert P. Taylor's Flowery: a webbery of flower images
Images created primarily with watercolors -- autumn 1996
Here are thumbnails of the seven images in the site that were done exclusively, or primarily, with watercolors. All were created in the autumn of 1996, the earliest, the unfinished bouquet at left on 24 September, the latest the brillinat orange mums at right, on 12 November. Watercolors were employed in creating a number of other images in the site, after the fall of 1996, but they combined that medium with colored pencils (see Watercolor and  colored pencils below). The watercolors could render a smooth texture or appropriate richness; the pencils could add the lines of definition that the rendering of certain petals seemed to demand. Eventually, despite its power, the use of watercolors virtually ceased. The later images in the site nearly all were done without watercolor at all, simply because pencils were more convenient to use in the field.
