Robert P. Taylor's : Fountain: Reflections of 3 Dancing Maidens

Multi-Maid Images
in order created

Here are the only images of two or three maidens. The reasons for focusing on individual maidens are discussed in Rationale for focus on separate maidens (below), and had primarily to do with the time and the drawer's difficulty in setting aside blocks of time adequate to drawing more than one at a time. The rough sketch, the first image here, was done on 5 January 1999, to get a feel for the subject. The next drawing, a 1.5 inch high miniature in which the rim of the circular fountain wall appears at the bottom, was done over a year later (8 April 2000), to regain the feeling of all three together, and to reexamine my having concentrated on individual figures. The third drawing was done the same day, to extend the reexamination by doing one serious drawing of at least two figures, just to see how long it would take (it took over 1.5 hours). The last image, not really one drawing but a composit of three merged together, demonstrates the failures of an alternative scheme to create three-figure images I had hoped to use but abandonned when It proved to problematic.
