Robert P. Taylor's JuryDuty: reflections on a trial
Juror Eight -- Joseph P.
Here are two drawings of Joseph P. In the first, he is reading, back in the deliberation room, while we await a summons to return to the courtroom, to resume hearing the case. On the right is the more careful drawing, done on 27 June, again done back our juror's room, this time while the judge and attorneys in the case discussed something they didn't want us to hear. His expression reflects his contemplating the odds of a long trial, a possibility that had been suggested by something said before we left the court room a few minutes earlier. With Joseph as with many of us, such an eventuality did not loom as welcome, and, as I recall, for him, an extended trial posed some difficult problems with his everyday job.
