Robert P. Taylor's JuryDuty: reflections on a trial
Intransit
to and from Jury Duty
Of several hundred N Y City subway riders with whom I probably shared transport during my commute to and from 1997 jury duty, these were the only ones I drew. I had a good bit of drawing to do while at the court, so I concentrated on that, once I got into the idea of drawing the jury duty world. I have drawn so many people in so many subways, both here and abroad, that I didn't bother to sketch many during these jury duty trips. Drawing during rush hour is virtually impossible on the subway, and the hour at which we were required to report to the court required us to travel during rush hour on several of the mornings. Nevertheless, because I think our interactions with fellow anonymous travellers helps shape us without our even being aware of it, I drew these few, to represent the many. An entire site of such drawings, Intransit, can be visited by those interested (see it among the sites in Related Taylor websites, below).
