All images, in order drawn

Above are the exhibits covering all drawings done during this1997 jury service. Travelling to and from Jury Dutypresents drawings made in transit to or from 1997's Jury Duty, with some comments on the drawings. Jury Pool and preliminaries presents drawings made in that room within the court building where prospective jurors wait to be called out and examined for suitability for a particular trial, a trial to be held either in that building, or another nearby. The Trial is an index to several sub-exhibits based on the actual trial, each organized by which participants it includes (jurors, attorneys, etc). All images, in order drawn exhibits all images used in the JuryDuty,in the order in which they were drawn.

Compared with all the previous occasions on which I'd served, the broader composition of the jury pool stood out as a noticeable difference in 1997, making it more interesting to be there, and to draw. This difference was due to New York County's having ended the exemption from jury duty for many categories of persons previously exempt, like lawyers. Sketching was done during the periods when we were waiting for something to happen - in the juror's room or in the courtroom itself. Sketches were drawn in the courtroom proper only during a pause of some sort (conference at the bench, waiting for the next witness to appear, and so forth). More details on charges and the issues giving rise to the trial are presented in Trial Summary, below.
