Robert P.Taylor's praha reflections on TET1997

TET97 -- Main Page

This sketch-bsed website was created to add a human touch to the record of TET 97, an international conference on Telecommunications for Education and Training held in Prague, from 27 May through 31 May, 1997. The site artist and creator, Robert P. Taylor of Teachers College, Columbia University had been to Prague seven years earlier, just as the Iron Curtain was falling, to train university people in using the computer and the emerging digital network, BITNET, for eductional purposes. That USAID sponsored training visit had been arranged by Stanislaw Zelenda of Charles University, after Taylor and Zelenda had met in a similar training mission Taylor had undertaken in Warsaw in 1990. For the site artist personnally, and several other persons present at TET97 and at that earlier training activity, this conference, quite apart from its primary focus, also reflected the changes that had taken place in the intervening years.
