This drawing was generated as one in a series (insets) to send to my two-and-half year old grandson to see if he could recognize me. Once I had returned to drawing people and began to do a lot of it, I became intrigued with how distinct each person's ears are. This led me to consider how distinct every face really is, and to consider how unique each facial detail is, despite the fact that there are nearly 6 (or 12) billion such details on the planet. Even the pattern in which a person's hair grows is unique - one learns that quickly enough if one draws the backs of heads.....
