These three careful studies were respectively done on 12 inch high white Bristol board on 4, 7, and 29 January 2000. The first two (left and center) were careful studies that were executed without problems, though the time occupied by each is not noted on the drawing. The last drawing (right), required the assistance of the computer to to rectivy a scaling problem. As I drew upward and downward from somewhere in the middle where I had elected to begin, the scale I'd been working from turned out to be to great. I ran out of space at the top for completing the head. Previous experience had shown how the computer could be used to overcome the problem so I drew the head off to one side in an empty space and went home.
