The head was a 4 inch study on plain paper, done on 4 January 2000, and the left side view, an 11 inch drawing on white Bristol board, done on 6 January. While both these were done carefully but without adventure, the right side view was a different matter. It was drawn on cream drawing paper, in two pieces, the first, from about the knees up, on 16 January 2000, and the other, the next day, from the knees down.
