Robert P. Taylor's Musicians: Reflections of Music Making

Anthony Korf - Timpanist

Anthony has played a number of times at Riverside, usually, though not always, for Easter Services. I have made several drawings of him during the times when he was rehearsing and performing with us, including those above, that together span 6 years, from 1994 to 2000. In a typical Easter Service, the timpani and 4 to 6 brass players perform a celebratory prelude before the service begins, then join in on appropriate other numbers during the service itself, and of course join spiritedly in on the concluding "Hallelujiah Chorus" from Handel's Messiah, a number in which the 1200 to 1600 people in the congregation also join in.
