David Orcutt - Bass-Baritone - singing on two different occasions
These drawings were done as David sang on two quite different occasions, the first (left) during the 10 September 2000 Sunday morning service, the other during a Christ Chapel recital on 5 November 2000. As the bulletin fragment upon which it is drawn indicates, in the left image he is singing a Vaughn Williams selection based on Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress. The sketch in the upper left was only a 5 second doodle to warm up. In the right drawing, he is singing a song by contemporary composer Pearson-Thomas, who was also accompanying him on the piano. This drawing captures the spirit of David's singing but is a bit sketchy for two reasons: (1) the drawing paper was grainy and (2) the back-lighting in the recital venue cast his eyes and the front of his face in the shadow.
