Robert P. Taylor's Musicians: Reflections of Music Making

Judith Hill, soprano - singing "Rejoice greatly."
Riverside Choir - Messiah 5 May 2001

This drawing of Judith was made as she sang "Rejoice greatly, ye daughters of Jerusalem" to the chidren and families at a Messiah selections concert on 5 May 2001. Standing at the edge of the concert stage, just above the first row of the audience, Judith was rather far from my seat at the rear and on the opposite side of the stage, so I wasn't sure how this drawing would come out. Since her face was hidden from my perspective, I could concentrate on the general posture she used to address the aira. Finished with that much, I added a bit of shading to accent the drama of this aria and to suggest the sanctuary's shadowy darkness beyond her. Later on the computer, I deepened the shadow and adjusted a few details here and there.
