This drawing was done on the title page of the Messiah score as we rehearsed for a partial performance of Handel's Messiah next day, Saturday, and a full performance, the following day, Sunday. I had already drawn Anthony Morris (inset left), the principal bass, on several occasions, so during sections in which the choir was silent but the orchestra was playing, I used my time to draw this unfamiliar bassist, a bassoonist , and several other performers (see Messiah below). Next day, I drew Saskia again (inset right), on the same page of my score, in some free space above this drawing.
