These drawings were done as Peter rehearsed to sing an aria from the Messiah for a morning service at Riverside on 29 April 2001. The aria was "Why do the nations so furiously rage together?" and Handel's mood establishing music is clearly visible in the left section, above Peter's head, in the characteristic alternating 16ths and 8ths of the accompaniment. The singer's expression reflects the words and the music of this particular aria.
