Robert P. Taylor's Musicians:
Reflections of Music Making

Richard Hundley, Composer
Visiting Teachers College
Considering a website

This drawing of Richard was done in my office, the first time I met him, on 28 February 1997, when he came to discuss the idea of my creating a website for him. As I got to know Richard, I began to learn some of his songs and sing them, and eventually, did a recital of which half were by Richard and half by Robert Convery (inset left) and both composers graciously came. Mi-Jung Im (inset right) who had gotten to know both composers through me, accompanied me. The Hundley website was designed to acquaint American university music students with the excellent body of songs in English that Hundley has written and there were mainly three reasons. First, at that time, those were vocal students had access to the web. Second, they needed to become acquainted with excellent songs in English, but often didn't know where to find any beyond those of Copland and a few other standards. And third, though Richard's songs are widely sung by reknowned professionals, many are not published and thus remain invisible to the vocal student, even at a university.
