Robert P. Taylor's Musicians: Reflections of Music Making

Exhibit of Singers

Here are some of the singers I have had time to sketch. Their styles are as varied as their appearances would suggest. As I have the most opportunity to sketch during rehearsals and performances in which I am personally involved, many of the subjects are musicians with whom I have performed. There are several implications of this practice. First, the subject is drawn from whatever perspective angle I happened to have on him or her from my assigned seat or standing position. Second, the subject may not have been performing at the moment of the sketch. While this may seem odd, musicians spend much of their time waiting, even during performance, so it is more than fitting to represent them in that mode - it is a big part of making music.
