Fingerprinting Information
All New York State certification applicants must be cleared for fingerprints. Fingerprint clearance in other states will NOT be considered by the New York State Education Department. Applicants who have not been fingerprinted for New York State should either:
Go to the New York State Education Department (NYSED) Fingerprinting website (CLICK HERE) for instructions regarding applying online. You will also have to complete an OSPRA 103 Form to give consent to NYSED to release your fingerprint clearance status to the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE).
OR
Visit the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) at 65 Court Street, Brooklyn NY. You will also have to complete an OSPRA 104 Form to give consent to NYCDOE to release your fingerprint clearance status to the New York State Education Department (NYSED). 2 (two) fingerprinting cards must be taken to your local police precinct.
Applicants who have received a New York City Substitute Teaching License should complete the OSPRA 104 Form to transfer fingerprint information to the New York State Department of Education.
