UAD Members Attended the Partners in Parkinson’s NYC Event

Dr. Michelle Troche and Dr. Sarah Perry, along with UAD members James Curtis and Akila Rajappa, volunteered at the Michael J. Fox Foundation Partners in Parkinson’s NYC Event on Oct 1, 2016. This free event educated over 1,200 people with PD and their care partners about navigating a PD diagnosis and its progression, in order to optimize care at every stage of the disease. The event included a full day of interactive panel discussions and breakout sessions focused on living with Parkinson’s. There was also a resource fair where attendees connected with leaders from the local medical and Parkinson’s community, including movement disorder specialists, allied care providers specializing in Parkinson’s disease, research sites conducting studies, and support and advocacy organizations. As part of the resource fair, the UAD members were able to interface with many patients and their family members informing them about the research and clinical work currently being conducted at the Teachers College, Columbia University Upper Airway Dysfunction Laboratory.
