ATTENTION!!!

Before using WebDAV please read the following information to ensure the security of Teachers College data.

  1. Most MS Office-type files (doc/docx, xls/xlsx, etc.) can be opened directly from WebDAV if you are utilizing Internet Explorer as your browser. This will ‘lock’ the file so that other users will know that you are editing it. Please note that you will be prompted for your TC username and password when you logon to WebDAV(you will need to enter a TC\username in the login ID field) and also every time you attempt to open a file.
  2. If you are attempting to open a non MS Office file-type, you should save the file to your local computer, edit the local file, and when you are finished copy the file back to the WebDAV directory.
  3. Do not access TC data through WebDAV on a computer that you do not own or otherwise trust. This means that the computer must be fully up to date with all Operating System patches and Virus-Scan updates and must be free of all spyware. Do not use WebDAV from any public internet kiosk.
  4. Please make sure you are using a secure password that is eight (8) characters or longer.

Windows Users

Windows users must use Internet Explorer for full functionality.
Go to >>> TC WebShare Folders                    (you will need to enter TC\USERNAME in the login ID field).

          Mac Users

In order for WebDAV to work properly on a Mac, you must use a supported secure WebDAV client. This functionality is built into Mac OS X.3 (‘Panther’) and above. You can access WebDAV by choosing ‘Go > Connect To Server’ from the Finder (or by pressing Command-K) and typing ‘https://tcwebdav.tc.columbia.edu’ in the server name box.

Download Graphical Directions

For users with older versions of Mac OS, we recommend the open-source software Goliath, which you can download for free here. After downloading and installing Goliath, use it to connect to ‘https://tcwebdav.tc.columbia.edu’.

If you have any questions or concerns about using WebDAV, please contact the TC Helpdesk at x3300
