Meet one of our fabulous Admission Coordinators, Danielle Ohemeng! Danielle comes to us from California after recently completing her Master of Arts in International Education Management and Master of Public Administration. Read on to learn more about Danielle, including her favorite food in NYC and top recommendations for tourists in the city.

What brought you to TC?

I had just graduated with a Master of Arts in International Education Management and a Master of Public Administration and was looking for a career in education or non-profit management focused on education. During my job search, I stumbled upon Teachers College and applied for an Admission Coordinator position. I had a goal of aiding others in establishing their careers to assist future generations, and Teachers College greatly aligned with that goal. The next thing I knew, I was brought into a great community of educational changemakers at TC.

What is your position in the Admission Office? What projects are you working on?

I am an Admission Coordinator. My role entails communicating with students interested in our Biobehavioral Sciences, Arts and Humanities, Health Studies and Applied Educational Psychology departments, as well as non-degree students. I also help process applications and ensure documentation has been submitted correctly to move through the review process.

What is your favorite place to hang out on campus or in Morningside Heights?

My favorite spot to spend time near campus is Riverside Park. There is a perfect little spot where you can sometimes catch the sunset between New York and New Jersey and enjoy a nice lunch or dinner from the nearby food trucks.

What is your favorite food in NYC?

Before moving to NYC, I liked to put together an egg sandwich with bacon on a plain bagel. Little did I know this was a very common dish found almost anywhere in New York City! A simple BE minus the C (Bacon and Egg, minus the cheese) on a plain bagel.

If someone only had one day to spend in NYC, what would you tell them they must do?

While visiting the bustling Times Square, you should take a ride on “Rise NYC,” a three-part interactive look at the history of NYC pop culture and history, followed by a 4-D virtual soaring adventure over the city. After having dinner, I recommend rounding out the night by visiting the Stardust Diner to hear some amazing singing and enjoy some great milkshakes.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

On a sunny day, I like to get away from the concrete structures and sit on a dock in Inwood, enjoying a view of the George Washington Bridge, Hudson River, and New Jersey. On less pleasant days, I enjoy watching video game streams or seeing a Broadway show (some for a second or third time).
