We’re excited to introduce another member of our Admission team, Emma Reynolds! Emma joins us from Massachusetts and focuses on the campus experience in her role — you may have seen her at a recent admission event. Read on to learn more about why Emma came to TC, the best way to spend a day in NYC, and the best coffee around campus!

Where are you from?
I’m originally from Westfield, MA.

What brought you to TC?
I came to Teachers College for the community! It is rare to find a graduate institution that values fostering a sense of community, belonging, and graduate student life in the same way as TC. From the moment I stepped foot on campus for the first time, it was apparent to me how each and every student, faculty, and staff cares about every individual’s experience at Teachers College. Working at a place that shares this same value as me is super important.

What is your position in the Admission Office? What kinds of projects do you work on?
I am the Assistant Director of Admission with a focus on Campus Experience. That means I get to work with the Admission department, student ambassadors, faculty, and staff to make the campus experience as engaging as possible for our prospective students! I focus on all things recruitment as well as serving as the Admission Liaison for the Organization & Leadership and Health Studies & Applied Educational Psychology.

What is your favorite spot to hang out either on campus or in Morningside Heights?
I am a huge coffee drinker, so you can often find me grabbing a nearby cup of coffee before work or during my lunch. Some recent favorites have been Blue Bottle, Nous Espresso, and Blue Java (on campus!).

What is your favorite food in NYC?
I am always looking for the best NYC bagel!

If someone only had one day to spend in the city, what would you tell them they need to do?
Go see a Broadway play! This is definitely a generic answer, but there are so many options so that everyone can find something they like. It wouldn’t be a visit to the city without a trip to a show!

What is your favorite activity to do outside of work?
I love spending time outside! I am a huge reader and listener of audiobooks, so one of my favorite activities is to put on the current audiobook or podcast I am listening to and go for a walk in a park or through my neighborhood.
