Deciding on graduate school is no small feat. The search can be overwhelming — I spent countless hours combing through program websites until all the requirements and titles blended together. What truly made the difference for me was connecting with current students and attending virtual information sessions. At TC, I felt a genuine passion and deep appreciation from the student community and learned about TC’s rich history of advocating for the underserved.
The Counseling Psychology program at TC checked all my boxes. Its strong focus on multicultural awareness was particularly compelling. The program’s mission to cultivate competent, self-aware counselors ready to serve diverse populations resonated with me. I knew I’d be surrounded by like-minded peers and faculty who shared my values and commitment.
What also drew me to TC was its robust alumni network and the ongoing support provided by TC Next. This sense of a connected community made me believe that TC would be the key to opening doors for my professional growth and future opportunities.
The backdrop of New York City sealed the deal. The city’s unmatched diversity, energy, and endless experiences make it the ideal place for personal and professional development. Having already built a network in New York, I felt confident this would enhance my time at TC. Moreover, the fieldwork component of the program, where students apply their skills at real sites, offers invaluable hands-on learning. New York is the perfect place to build these connections, deepen my competence, and develop empathy while serving the city’s vibrant communities.
Choosing TC meant choosing a place that champions its students and the communities they aim to serve. I felt assured that this was the environment where I could thrive and become the counselor I aspired to be. My journey has only begun, but I already know TC was the right choice.
