Psychology Programs

As the birthplace of educational psychology in 1899, Teachers College, Columbia University has become a leader in the psychological and human development disciplines. Our faculty, students, and alumni play a central role in developing solutions to the great problems of the world. Scholars, students, and graduates are on the front lines together, addressing the mental health crisis, the experience of refugee communities, the impact of police violence, and the nexus of genetics and the environment.

Programs in counseling, clinical psychology, cognitive science, school psychology, behavioral analytics, and social-organizational psychology enable TC students to tackle the developmental, emotional, social, and educational challenges faced by individuals, groups, and societies. TC students prepare for a multitude of career avenues in academia, industry, non-profits, community organizations, and school systems. And, they share a fundamental mission: to courageously help people. Learn how you can join them.

Make Meaningful Connections

We are a graduate student body from all 50 states (plus D.C) and 84 nations. We're doing truly amazing things, like assisting refugees, creating technology to support individuals with disabilities, and programming apps that help first-generation college students navigate their campus experience. We have the courage to innovate and lead change.

We are also a welcoming, supportive, and vibrant community. Connect with your peers and grow through residence hall activities, club meetings, departmental lectures, and cultural events— We are in NYC, after all.
