Moira Hamilton is a Master’s student in the Department of Art and Humanities; Art and Art Education. Moira also serves as the Senator for Arts and Humanities and is on the Committee for Diversity here at Teachers College, Columbia University. Moira is originally from Arizona as has an extensive leadership background from positions and employment, such as the Chapter President of Golden Key International Honour Society and founded a non-profit named Servicio, Youth Outreach. Moira has served and belongs to multiple honor organizations such as Phi Beta Phi, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Phi Theta Kappa at her alma mater the University of Arizona. Moira is also an artist and a mother of adopted medically fragile children. You can find Moira at many activities when she is not studying, painting, or being a mother.
As Senator for Arts and Humanities, Moira wants to create and encourage a diverse community. Moira has begun working with Professor Han and Professor Rock to create a friendship program to encourage new students into the TC community, where they can feel welcome and befriended. Moira is creating activity events to help bring our students together and learn about each other’s backgrounds and goals. Moira goal is to create a school for disabled children like her own, that incorporates art and art education across multiple fields of study. Moira is eager to hear from you and wants to know your event ideas and how to make you feel more welcome and involved.
