Lights, Camera, Action: The Student As Filmmaker
October 10, 2015 - December 19, 2015
THE CENTER FOR PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION OF TEACHERS PRESENTS
E.P.I.C.: Empowering the Practice of Internal Coaching
in partnership with the Ghetto Film School
Five-session workshop series @ TC
Teachers’ planning and preparation, classroom environment, instruction, and professional responsibilities provide an ideal platform for positioning student filmmakers as creators and producers of their new media in which they are centrally-focused on storytelling, self-expression, and the development of media skills. In this workshop series, participants engage with Ghetto Film School’s Common Core aligned curricula, created in partnership with Teachers College, Center for the Professional Education of Teachers. In a supportive, hands-on environment, participants explore the Feature Presentation Course, in which students design, develop, write, shoot, edit, and present an original 3 – 5 minute film and two short film units containing one genre-study based on Film Noir and one unit built around writing and producing a commercial.
