Re-imagining Writing: Publishing Beyond the Classroom

Six-session workshop series @ TC, 2 on-site visits per participant

This professional development opportunity helps teachers re-envision their literacy curriculum to be both standards and project-based. With support of facilitators, teachers will build a long-term writing project into their existing curriculum, which will culminate in a professionally designed, print-based publication and a reading celebration. This project invites teachers and students to creatively and critically engage with their curriculum in new and rigorous ways. Teachers will walk away from this series with artifacts that can be used to support the publication project, and are aligned with the five phases of the SPI publishing process, including specific instructional strategies for designing and implementing a publishing project.
