Online IRS Small to Mid-Size Tax-Exempt Workshops

In an effort to increase public access to the popular Small to Mid-Size Tax-Exempt 501(c)(3) Organization Workshops, the Exempt Organizations (EO) office has posted a virtual version at, the Exempt Organizations educational website.

Educational institutions and charities are encouraged to use these courses to enhance their learning programs. Participants may take these interactive presentations in any order at any time.
Certificates of attendance are provided at the end of most lessons.

This virtual 501(c)(3) workshop experience explains the benefits, limitations and expectations for tax-exempt organization leaders, volunteers and those who wish to apply for exempt status.

  • Form 990 Overview · Social Security Number Protection offers additional exempt-organization information - like Disaster Relief and Foundation Classification courses, recorded webinars, IRS forms, publications and the Interactive Form 1023, Application for Recognition of Exemption, which includes help buttons, auto-calculating fields, supplemental pages and five prerequisite questions to ensure that you have the required documentation.
